Job Description

Job description:
The Medical College of Wisconsin and Children’s Specialty Group are actively recruiting pediatric interventional radiologists to practice at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Opportunity is available for both a Program Director of Pediatric Interventional Radiology and a staff pediatric interventional radiologist.

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin

A national leader in pediatric health care, Children’s Hospital is ranked as a top hospital by U.S. News and World Report and Child magazine and is the only Level I Trauma Center in the region that cares exclusively for children. Children's Hospital serves children with all types of illnesses, injuries, birth defects and other disorders.

Salary is very competitive, with comprehensive benefits and 4000+ IR procedures per year. We have a dedicated group of Physician Assistants who do routine IR procedures under the supervision of the interventional radiology service and place most PICC lines, G tubes, and GJ tubes, enabling the interventional radiologist to perform less routine IR procedures. There are 2 new, state of the art IR suites, including an interventional hybrid suite. Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is a national center for vascular anomalies with a significant number of vascular malformation interventions. The pediatric imaging section includes a dedicated research PhD and a research lab for lymphatic malformations.

Children’s Hospital is a 296 bed freestanding hospital dedicated solely to the care of children. Children's Hospital is one of the busiest pediatric hospitals in the nation. Last year, 22,747 infants, children and adolescents were admitted and 303,140 were seen in the hospital's specialty outpatient clinics and urgent care sites. The Emergency Department/ Trauma Center treated 59,984 children, and 14,628 surgical procedures were performed.

The College provides continuing medical education to more than 15,000 health professional registrants each year.

The Medical College of Wisconsin is a major national research center, in fact, the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and 2nd largest in Wisconsin.

FY 2010-11, faculty received more than $175 million in external support for research, teaching, training and related purposes, of which more than $161 million was for research. This total includes highly competitive research and training awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In the federal government’s FY 2011, the College received approximately $92.9 million in NIH funding and ranked 43rd among the nation’s 136 medical schools for NIH research funding. In FY 2011, the Medical College was one of only 20 of the top 50 medical schools (in terms of NIH funding) to receive an increase in base NIH funding.
The Medical College’s research enterprise is focused on strategic, prioritized areas of research involving interdisciplinary collaboration among scientists and physicians with the goal of rapidly translating discoveries into advances for patient care. Medical College faculty conducted more than 2,200 research studies, including clinical trials, in FY 2010-11.
